This collection consists of the pre-publication efforts of John G. Gammie, professor of Religion at the University of Tulsa, for his work The Sage in Israel and the Ancient Near East, co-edited with Leo G. Perdue and published by Eisenbrauns in 1990. Included are the original proposal for the volume, the contract with the publisher, correspondence between Gamie and other scholars asking if they would contribute to the volume of essays, letters of refusal, and correspondence between the authors who accepted, discussing their contribution, changes, etc.
